Steve Bruce: "I haven't been out on the streets since the 5-1 in October.

"I have kept myself to myself and waited.

"But I know what the north-east derby means - I certainly know what it means now after savouring one which was arguably the worst, certainly in football, anyway, experience I have had.

"The most important thing, I believe, is that we must play the game. The last time, we didn't.

"We got caught up in the occasion, caught up with the media, caught up with the press, caught up with this, that and the other, and the one thing we forgot to do was turn up and play.

"We must make sure we focus on playing the way we have done for the last 18 months at the Stadium of Light.

"If we do that, then I know Newcastle will be in for a hell of a game."
