Bruce bid for Domi

Signed by Ruud Gullit, the French Under-21 international returned to PSG after an almighty falling out with Sir Bobby, which culminated with him returning to France and sulking till we sold him.

Domi has apparently now fallen out with PSG coach Luis Fernandez and wants to return to England.

Apart from having a massive attitude problem Domi was actually a pretty good attacking full back, but his defending was weak and his head went down too easily.

In many ways he was a typical Gullit signing (Dyer and Duncan disorderly being the obvious exceptions), in that he was a talented player with no application or commitment to the cause.

Domi was also at the centre of one of my favourite tabloid stories.

According to the News of the World, when he went back to France after falling out with Sir Bobby he, along with best friend Nicolas Anelka, joined an extreme Muslim cult.

The cult’s leader then told Domi that he couldn’t return to Newcastle because the city was full of devil worshippers, and he never played for United again.

There’s probably no truth in it, but it does leave one question unanswered – does this make Alan Shearer the devil?
