Brown Rules Out Switch To Newcastle!

The defender's contract expires at the end of the season and he has rejected all offers of an extension to date.

Newcastle did make an offer for him when the January transfer window opened, but Man Utd knocked it back, and it was said Brown was interested.

But that was an offer from Sam Allardyce, who is no longer at the club.

And if Newcastle did make a move, it would obviously give the wrong impression to the next manager, as to who is picking the players.

Reports claim Newcastle's offer for Brown was £400,000.

Gill: "We would clearly want Wes to stay.

"He's a local boy who has come through the ranks. I think he wants to stay.

"We've made him what we believe is an excellent offer, but we've not reached an agreement. So we'll see how it unfolds.

"It is unlikely that a club would come in and offer something substantial for him when he is out of contract in the summer."
