Bowyer signs

The controversial 26-year-old midfielder signed a pre-contract agreement in May and put pen to paper on a contract this morning following a medical and the expiry of his contract with West Ham on Monday.

Bowyer will now link up with the rest of the squad when pre-season training begins on Thursday, bringing to an end one of the longest running transfer sagas of recent years.

The big question now is whether or not the former Leeds United and Charlton Athletic man can win over the St James' Park faithful by reproducing the kind of form that was so vital in the Yorkshire side’s run to the Champions League semi-finals in 2001.
