Boa Morte would add bite to toothless attack

Fulham fans must be experiencing a worrying feeling of déjà vu at the moment. For it was a year ago this month that ex-Toon striker Louis Saha moved from the Cottagers to Man.Utd for £13 million.

Twelve months on and it is Luis Boa Morte who is being linked with a move away from the capital to a new northern home. And, like Saha, press comments attributed to Boa Morte claim that the player is interested in the move. Indeed, one source stating that the Portuguese international was ‘flattered’ by Newcastle’s interest.

A move for Boa Morte would present Graeme Souness with extra attacking options. Having strengthened our defence with the additions of Boumsong and Babayaro, the Scot would have been worried by a three hour spell spanning the Birmingham, West Brom and Yeading games in which we failed to score a goal.

With Bowyer, Jenas and Dyer all appearing incapable of producing something of the unexpected in the final third, Boa Morte has the ability to beat a man with the drop of a shoulder or a change of pace – his arrival would add much needed bite to what is at present an otherwise toothless attack.
