Bluebirds fail with Cort bid

According to the Evening Chronicle the Bluebirds were keen to take the £7million man on a season-long loan as Lennie Lawrence looks to strengthen his newly promoted squad for their first division campaign.

Presumably Lawrence viewed Cort as an ideal foil for the pacy and prolific Robert Earnshaw, who netted over 30 times last season, but Sir Bobby wasn’t keen on the idea of a loan deal.

With Spurs, Wolves and West Ham’s reported interest seemingly coming to nothing the likelihood of Cort seeing out the remaining two years of his contract in Newcastle United’s reserve team appears ever stronger.
