Bez (And Big Brother) Do The Honours!

Last updated : 01 November 2007 By Footy Mad - Editor

The match is in honour of ex-Felling FC striker Chris Heron, who died tragically last season.

Beresford will be joined by Kevin Carr, John Anderson, Joe Allon, Billy Askew, and Alan Shoulder in a "celebrity" XI to take on a Felling select side.

Big Brother winner Anthony Hutton will also be taking part.

All money raised will be put into a trust fund set up in aid of Heron's daughters Amber and Jessica.

Felling manager Steve Wraith said: "Chris was a wonderful person and fantastic player, and it's only right that we celebrate his life in this way."
Kick off is 3pm, with admission £4 for adults and £2 for children.

1992/98 J.Beresford 224/5 8
Missed a penalty that could have taken Portsmouth to the FA Cup final. Newcastle signed him after Liverpool turned him down because he failed a medical. Brilliant left-back who had a sparkling career at SJP. Born in Sheffield. He joined Southampton in 1998.

1984/87 J.B.Allon 10/0 2
Joe was prolific in the reserves but never cut it for Newcastle at league level, but he did have a big money transfer to Chelsea after success at Hartlepool. Always a true Toon fan, still visits SJP, and we've seen him many times at away games.

1976/85 K.Carr 195/0 0
Goalkeeper probably best remembered for putting his hand through a window at home and being sidelined for some time. Now working as a policeman and we've often seen him at matches at St James' Park.

1982/92 J.C.P.Anderson 316/16 15
Forget all the hype about Sibierski, Ando is arguably the most popular free-transfer United ever signed. Came from Preston and ended his career here after a bad injury.

1990/92 W.Askew 7/1 0
Manager Jim Smith's 'Final Piece of the Promotion Jigsaw'. Sadly United didn't get promoted, and Billy got the flak because of it.

1978/82 A.Shoulder 106/11 38
Busy little player who signed from Blyth Spartans after their memorable FA Cup run of 1978 when they lost to Wrexham at St James' Park. Didn't play league football until he was 25. Struck up a good partnership with Peter Withe. Went to Carlisle for £20,000.
