Bellamy's a big mouth, not a racist

However a second charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words of behaviour which were racially aggravated was dropped, an event that received a lot less publicity than the initial unsubstantiated allegations made against him.

It emerged in court that Bellamy had been refused entry to Jumpin Jaks nightclub and after arguing with door staff was pushed down a flight of stairs before proceeding to swear at passers by watching the incident. He was of course drunk at the time.

Deputy district judge Anthony Smith-Jones told the striker: "You are a role model, people do look up to you and in this you have let yourself down."

After the hearing the Wales international issued a statement, which read: "Craig Bellamy appeared in court in Cardiff this morning in connection with events occurring in Cardiff several months ago.

"Craig acknowledged to the court that he had used abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

"Craig apologises for his inappropriate swearing and reaction following severe provocation."

Is anyone really surprised that Bellamy’s mouth has got him into trouble?
