Newcastle assistant boss Chris Hughton said: "He is a very good player, but certainly, the game won't be about Craig Bellamy.

"He is one of a few options they have and all we can do is do our homework on each player and hopefully on the day, have done enough and play well enough to get something from the game."

New signings Craig Bellamy and Nigel de Jong are in line to make their Manchester City debuts against Newcastle at Eastlands tonight, as the pair arrived from West Ham and Hamburg respectively at a combined cost of around £24million.

Captain Richard Dunne begins a four-match ban so Nedum Onuoha and Micah Richards are expected to be paired together in central defence.
