Bellamy on title ambitions

The Welshman toed the party line by saying that we don’t have a realistic chance.

"Realistically I don’t think we are good enough to win the Premiership," he claimed. "Arsenal are the best, they are streets ahead."

"Newcastle are one of the clubs going in the right direction and my main aim now is to win something here."

I’m not entirely convinced that Bellamy believed a word he was saying. A player as confident as him is bound to think we can win it and hopefully there are plenty more like him in the squad.

He also spoke of his delight at signing a new deal at St James’ Park, saying: "It was always an easy decision to make.

"Newcastle gave me an opportunity when other clubs wouldn’t and I wanted to show some loyalty in return."

Lets hope there were plenty of Coventry fans watching!
