Ex-Newcastle forward Craig Bellamy believes that Newcastle United centre back Jamaal Lascelles does not deserve an England call up yet, but says that if he continues his fine form so far this season, then he will have a chance, as reported on the Chronicle Live.

Image result for newcastle united Craig BellamyLascelles has been hugely impressive at the heart of the Magpies defence so far in the Premier League and has led his side into the top half of the table.

The central defender has also managed to find the back of the net twice which has had many people calling for an England call up.

However, Bellamy believes that it is too early to consider him for a place in the squad but does not rule it out for the future.

He’s started well this season. I’d like to see a little bit more. It’s England again, as soon as a player’s doing well, he automatically should be called up to the England squad.

I’d like to see him maintain the good form he’s enjoying at this present moment. I’d like to see it a little bit longer and then who knows.

The 23-year-old has also been nominated for the Player of the Month award in September after a solid month at the back.
