Bellamy contract talks postponed

If the report in the Evening Chronicle is correct Bellamy’s advisers were informed that the player had been fined two weeks wages and that it was an inappropriate time to discuss a new contract for the player.

Sir Bobby seems to be taking a pragmatic approach to the situation and seems certain to hand Bellamy a starting position against Everton on Sunday.

"What happened on Wednesday night is a separate situation to Sunday,” said Sir Bobby.

"We did not support Bellamy on what he did on Wednesday night, but life has to go on.

"And as far as we are concerned, that is on Sunday against Everton.

"Craig Bellamy is still a very important player to this football club and not only that but a potential match-winner.

"I have to decide whether to play Craig on Sunday - but I have to play my best side."
