Bellamy back on the bench for Brum

The Welshman made his return following knee surgery in the reserves’ goalless draw with Everton on Monday and now looks set to be on the bench at St Andrews.

“Craig did well in the reserves on Monday night and to be honest he was better than I thought he’d be the next morning,” said Sir Bobby.

“He’s in the squad for Birmingham but I’ll probably bench him in that one. The reserves have a game on Monday night and he’ll play in that.

“He could give me 20 minutes on Saturday, but my thoughts are to put him on the bench.”

We desperately need a result on Saturday following the defeat at Liverpool and the sale of Nobby Solano, and we owe the Blues one from earlier in the season, so hopefully Bellamy’s return can give us the morale boost we need to help clinch the points.
