Bayer crash again

Bayer Leverkusen crashed to a 2-1 defeat at Bochum leaving them just a point above the Bundesliga relegation zone.

Vahid Hashemian gave Bochum the lead in the 61st minute but the game looked to be heading for a draw when Marko Babic equalised 12 minutes from time.

But Iranian international Hashemian grabbed a winner for the home side six minutes from time, leaving Bayer coach Klaus Toppmoller under severe pressure.

To add to Toppmoller’s woe Argentinian defender Diego Piacente broke his nose and is doubtful for our game there next week.

Barcelona lost a two-goal lead to draw with Athletic Bilbao in Raddy Antic’s first game in charge.

Javier Saviola and Marc Overmars gave Barca a half-time advantage only for Joseva Ezquerro and Francisco Yeste to earn Bilbao a point.

Inter climbed to the top of the Serie A table, with a 3-0 win over Reggina, thanks to a Christian Vieri strike and a brace from Mohamed Kallon.

But it wasn’t all good news for Inter as Vieri was forced off with a knee injury before the break and he will undergo scans today to assess the seriousness of the injury.
