Barton Injury Will NOT Stop Dyer Transfer!

Sam Allardyce has had talks with Dyer, and if the England international is expecting an arm around the shoulder and a cuddle ... like he did with Sir Bobby Robson ... forget it!

The reports today claim: "Allardyce faces a difficult decision over Kieron Dyer this week after it emerged Joey Barton will miss the start of the new Premier League season.

"At least one from West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are expected to bid for the unsettled Dyer in the next seven days but the waters may have been muddied by the problem picked up by captain-for-the-day Barton in Saturday's pre-season friendly against Carlisle United."

Barton will be out for six weeks, but that has nothing to do with the Dyer situation. Dyer has not given signs he wants a long term future with Newcastle, and our "insider" claims the midfielder is waiting to see what offer lands on the table. And Sam would rather take the money NOW and get a replacement while the transfer window is still open.

Allardyce's public stance this summer has been a breath of fresh air. While Glenn Roeder begged players to stay, Sam has been honest with all the players "threatening" to leave by saying they have a place at St James' Park ... but if they don't want it ... 'pack your bags and go'!

And that includes the likes of Oba Martins, Michael Owen AND Kieron Dyer!

Sam said two weeks ago: "If Owen and Martins want to go I can do nothing about it. It is up to the players. If they do go we move on."

Allardyce: "Kieron Dyer hasn't said anything to me. If we'd had a bid it might have been his last game for Newcastle United but we haven't."

As for players moving in ...

"In the last couple of weeks we haven't got one single face in and I certainly hope in the next week it's going to be at least one or two.

"We need another three or four before August 11 (the first day of the Premier League season) - that's a certainty.

"Everything has hampered our progress - maybe players don't want to come, maybe the terms aren't good enough, maybe clubs want too much money, maybe another club's nipped in ahead of us.

"Until you get pen to paper you never think you've clinched it. We just have to keep moving on."
