Alan Pardew says Barton is on top of his game at the moment.
Alan Pardew: “He made things happen against Birmingham and his crossing was bang on the money.
“Even when they closed him down he kept on putting Danny Simpson in on the overlap.
“There were also a couple of through balls that were on the money too – he was outstanding.
“Joey in particular has been frustrated himself in the build-up to the game.
“He channels his frustration sometimes in the wrong way. But he wants to win and you have to admire him for that.
“He was the best player. I can’t say any more than that.”
