The major injury concerns for Sir Bobby surround defenders again with Jonathan Woodgate and Andy O’Brien both doubtful for the game.
No indication yet as to whether Laurent Robert will retain his place after his dismissal at Everton, but Nobby Solano is available again after international duty and may replace the out of sorts Lee Bowyer.
Up front Craig Bellamy and Alan Shearer should continue, with Shola Ameobi on the bench again.
Not in the squad though are Steve Harper who is not judged to be fit enough after his hamstring injury and Nikos Dabizas and Darren Ambrose, despite both coming through Monday’s reserve game.
The visitors will be without injured defenders Florent Laville and Nicky Hunt, but forwards Jardel and Youri Djorkaeff are both available.
