Baby Blues For David Rozehnal!

Rozehnal's wife Petra gave birth to the couple's first child - baby boy Luka - at a Newcastle hospital last week, and was partly behind the decision to rest the player.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defender had started United's first seven Premier League games, so I wouldn't read too much into rumours he is set for a spell on the sidelines.

But the 27-year-old had to be content with a place on the bench on Sunday, with him and Steven Taylor seemingly paying the price for the previous weekend's defeat to Manchester City.

Instead, Allardyce paired Cacapa and Abdoulaye Faye together in the centre of defence.

Allardyce: "David's had a great joy in his life last week, with his wife giving birth to a son.

"Unfortunately, from his point of view it'll be a huge disappointment that he was on the bench.

"He's a terrific lad, who's done even better than I'd expected already by playing a number of Premiership games one after the other.

"But my job is to allow some time to sit down, reflect and learn. A little bit of a rest is sometimes the best thing to do.

"And I felt that was the right thing to do based on our Manchester City performance."
