Attention turns to Distin as Kuffour elects to stay put

It now looks as if a move for Samuel Kuffour will be put on hold until the summer with the Ghanaian expressing his desire to remain at Bayern Munich until the end of the season.

Kuffour will be well aware that a free transfer is a lucrative option for any footballer and given news of recent interest from Inter Milan Kuffour may want a few extra months to asses all of the options available to him.

With this news come reports of a £7million approach for Sylvin Distin with Man.City appearing to have chosen not to accept our initial £5million bid.

Distin is apparently willing to move but wants to show loyalty, something he failed to do whilst on Tyneside three years ago, to Kevin Keegan and Manchester City after being awarded the captaincy at the City of Manchester Stadium.

The jury is still out on whether or not a move for Distin would be worthwhile. He did impress whilst at St.James Park during his loan spell from PSG and has indeed improved since his switch to Manchester. But, given the circumstances surrounding his departure from Newcastle and the fact he has occasionally been labelled as error prone make a move for Distin a little questionable.

With Boumsong set to start indefinitely and Bramble in good form it could be suggested that the money could be better spent elsewhere with the addition of a right midfielder perhaps a more urgent need.
