Andy Carroll isn't asking for much .... just a chance to show he CAN be the next Toon Number Nine.
Andy Carroll: "I think I came up to the first-team dressing room halfway through (last) season.
"Obviously, it's good to be starting the season in the first-team dressing room – it's what I want. I just need to start playing regularly, and I'll be even happier.
"I'm ready for the responsibility. I know where I stand now. I know I'm in the first-team dressing room, and I'm involved with everything.
"I just need to do as well as I can, really, and push for a place.
"Last season was really hard – I didn't do any pre-season. I didn't do anything for about two months.
"This season, I've been lucky enough to get a pre-season under my belt and play in the friendlies, which I'm happy about. It's worked well for me."
