Shearer told the BBC on Saturday: "Mike Ashley asked me to make two lists - one of players to go - and one of players to come in.
"I made the lists, handed them over, and I've heard nothing since."
The Magpies' preparations for the new campaign have been disrupted by Ashley offering the job ALLEGEDLY to Joe Kinnear and David O'Leary ... two managers the fans do not want at the club.
But Ashley, as usual, does things his way.
Shearer is concerned that nobody has come in to replace the players that have gone.
"Key players have gone out and none have come in," Shearer said in The Sun.
"When you consider the squad we had at the end of last season was pretty thin anyway and it wasn't balanced enough.
"Mark Viduka, Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins, Sebastien Bassong, Habib Beye and Peter Lovenkrands have all gone without anyone coming in so that tells the story for Newcastle.
"It does not take a genius to work out that is not ideal preparation for them."
