The Sun reports:

Mike Ashley has angered the Toon Army after cranking up season ticket prices by 10 per cent.

Owner Ashley and Newcastle's top brass have decided fans must shell out extra unless they commit to buying for the next three years.

The average increase at Premier League clubs for the 2008-09 campaign is 7.2 per cent.

Supporter Jim Hannah, 47, of Whitley Bay, said: "Fair enough if you want to commit to three years — last season's price is frozen.

"But the way things are economically, who can afford that? It's a strange time to do it after the season we had."
