There will be a collection for Ashley at the next home game (Saturday 21st v Arsenal) when the guys from NewcastleUtd-mad will be going around with the begging buckets at half-time.

But seriously folks .... his loss is nothing considering Roman Abramovich lost a staggering £10.9bn over the last year, seeing his personal fortune tumble to £6.2bn.

Bill Gates (didn't he once play for the Mackems?) has retained his status as the world's richest man, with a personal fortune of £29bn.

However (changing the tone just a little) ... those with a wage rise ... Newcastle have offered one-year professional contracts to several of their promising youngsters.

Defenders Callum Morris, Darren Lough and James Taylor have all won new deals while teenage midfielder Brad Inman has also signed a new two-year contract.

Academy defender Matthew Grieve has also been offered a third year scholarship.
