Ameobi Set For Toon Stay?

The Magpies have suffered a fresh blow with potential suitors Ipswich Town joining Norwich City, Stoke City, West Brom and Hull City losing interest in the former England Under-21 international.

Ameobi is now back in pre-season training with the rest of the Newcastle squad but is no closer to a move away from St James's Park.

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton: "We have not heard a dickie bird from him, his agent or Newcastle, so I imagine he has gone back to Newcastle".

Sources close to Ameobi have told The Journal that it is unlikely the striker will depart St James's Park in the next fortnight - and may not leave until the Premier League season is under way.

United's valuation is now £2.5m, £500,000 less than the price quoted to Stoke, but still way too high for many Championship clubs.
