Allardyce 'We Made City Look Good'!

The Toon boss blasted his midfield for being "too adventurous" and his defence for "lacking discipline " as his side crashed to their third away defeat in the space of 12 days.

Allardyce: "They've have obviously improved a lot on last year with all the money they've spent.

"They're making a good impact at the moment, but if it hadn't been for our defensive problems, we could and should have contained them.

"We did that in the beginning of the game when we were comfortable. We got the goal, and then we were too adventurous. When you become too adventurous away from home, you pay the price and we gifted them the equaliser.

"We got to grips with the game again, but you need to capitalise on your chances and opportunities. "There was James Milner's chance after they made a couple of saves, but there was nobody there to tap it in.

"That then took us in at 1-1 and then one minute and 40 seconds after the restart we were 2-1 down.

"That was just completely down to our lack of defensive discipline. We should have realised the situation and knocked the ball out, or got behind the ball.

"We tried to head it to each other. It was past our last man, and then Petrov goes down the line and crosses it, and they scored.

"There's nothing I can do about that. I just can't understand why lads even try and pick out their own players when they're under pressure just to head the ball into a safe area.

"We didn't do it, and that's been the big turning point.

"It's the first time we've lost a game when we've gone a goal up. I was really, really disappointed, because it shouldn't happen.

"If you're a decent side and score first in the Premier League, 80% of the time you don't lose.

"We put ourselves in a magnificent position, and basically all you have to do is frustrate a Manchester City team, but we didn't, and instead encouraged them by our poor work out of possession.

"Ultimately, at the end we've paid a heavy price for that."
