Allan Saint-Maximin Revealed as Newcastle's Most Fined Player This Season

No player in the Newcastle squad has received more fines than Allan Saint-Maximin this season, many of them coming as a result of his love for the glamorous aspects of life.

An improved overall display from the Magpies this season has seen them better off in the league than at this stage under Rafa Benitez last season, with much of the praise directed towards their summer acquisition from OGC Nice.

In a deal thought to be worth around £16m, just a solitary goal and assist in the Premier League doesn't appear the best return on paper, but Saint-Maximin has won over the hearts of his new supporters with some dazzling displays in the north east - as well as a funny and engaging social media presence.

It's not just Saint-Maximin's performances that have caught the eye this season, but his appearance as well. His trademark headband has become a regular fixture, something The Athletic reveal sprouted from a love of kung-fu films growing up as a child. They've become so prevalent in his life they're now deemed part of his 'identity'.

However, his 'love of glam' has seen him run into trouble in Northumberland. The Frenchman is also known to be a keen admirer of rings, and his varied collection of them has seen him become the most fined player at the club this season.

Indeed, Newcastle players are supposed to have removed their rings before getting on to the training ground, some instructions the 22-year-old forward clearly hasn't listened to. While the sum of the fines is not known, Saint-Maximin's nonchalance toward them would suggest that they aren't too severe.

He scored his second Newcastle goal on Tuesday night, with a fine solo effort that saw Steve Bruce's side survive a late comeback from Oxford United and book their place in the FA Cup fifth round for the first time in 14 years.
