Newcastle United’s January signing Miguel Almiron should be raring to go and will be desperate to show supporters what he can do.

The Magpies broke their club transfer record with a £20million deal (BBC) for him last month and he made his debut in English football off the bench in the draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 11 February.

His side haven’t been in competitive action since, but return on Saturday to start back-to-back home games at St James’ Park in the Premier League.

Almiron couldn’t have hand-picked two better fixtures to really make his mark and become an instant fan favourite.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder will hope to earn his first start against Huddersfield at the weekend, while they also face Burnley just three days later.

He is a left-footed speed machine that previously showed his creative qualities and goal threat in the MLS, something he will want to do quickly for Rafael Benitez’s team.

Huddersfield are rooted to the bottom of the league table as it stands and are 14 points from safety, which is why they are overwhelming favourites to be relegated as it stands.

They have defensive frailties that trickster Almiron should be able to exploit and it’s a match at home Newcastle should dominate.

Burnley are also a favourable opponents considering they have shipped 47 league goals so far this season and are 15th in the table, despite a slight renaissance recently.

Almiron can become an instant favourite with Newcastle fans if he can contribute with some match-winning displays at home, something he appears to have the individual quality to do but fail and the price tag will be a huge topic of discussion.
