A big round of applause for...

Many supporters were unfortunate enough not to see the game after the initial postponement, but those who were in the privileged position of being able to change their travel plans did the club proud.

Despite being down to less than 2000 they out sung the home crowd and could clearly be heard even after the game was dead with chants of “Figo, Figo”, “S*** ground no fans” and “There’s only one Michael Chopra”.

Well done guys, it’s a shame the team couldn’t produce a result for you.

But we should be pleased with the players as well, after they produced a battling team effort.

They couldn’t stop
Barcelona notching a record equaling tenth consecutive Champions League win, but they were by no means disgraced.

In the end we lost to a team who were just better than us.

And a special mention must go to the outstanding Shola Ameobi.

On a night when some of our more experienced players were unable to show their best form Shola showed exactly why Sir Bobby and David Platt rate him so highly.

He scored a great goal, had one cleared off the line and forced the keeper into a great save, as well as giving Frank de Boer as difficult a night as he’s had for some time.

Shola has taken a lot of criticism this year, including from me, but if he can continue to reproduce this form he’ll soon become a firm favourite with the fans.
