International round up

Wales slumped to an undeserved 1-0 defeat in Belgrade against Serbia & Montenegro in their Euro 2004 qualifier, with Gary Speed captaining the side from left back and Craig Bellamy impressing in midfield.

Kieron Dyer played the final 30 minutes of England’s 3-1 friendly win over Croatia and, playing in the withdrawn striker role, produced the kind of performance that reminded everyone why he is an international player in the first place. More of the same on Saturday please Kieron.

Nobby Solano is presumably thinking that his trip to the USA was worthwhile after he was on target in Peru’s 3-1 win over Mexico, a match that saw four players dismissed for fighting.

Despite being ruled out of our two games so far with a back injury Hugo Viana managed to complete the full 90 minutes as Portugal beat the mighty Kazakhstan 1-0 and Nikos Dabizas made his comeback as a late substitute in Greece’s 2-1 win in Sweden.

Brian Kerr and Steve Caldwell both made the bench for Scotland’s 0-0 draw in Norway but neither saw any action.
