Newcastle's rumoured interest in Virgil van Dijk was set to move one step closer to becoming a reality after Celtic’s defeat to Legia Warsaw.
But UEFA has announced that Celtic have been reinstated in the Champions League after being awarded a default 3-0 second-leg win over Legia Warsaw, who fielded an ineligible player during their third qualifying round tie.
