Agent claims Forssell interest

The Finnish international has found the target 16 times in 29 games during his loan spell at Birmingham City this season, but that looks unlikely to be enough for him to force his way into the Chelsea squad for next season.

The reports probably amount to little more than Forssell’s agent attempting to build up interest in his client from bigger clubs than Birmingham, but the 23-year-old is the sort of player who could interest Sir Bobby in the summer.

"A loan season at Birmingham was a great decision but it's time to take the big step," Vincenzo Morabito told IS Urheilu.

"Liverpool and Newcastle are very keen on him if Chelsea are willing to sell Mikael.

"But I don't believe that Chelsea would be willing to sell Mikael to one of their rivals like Liverpool or Newcastle.

"Fulham are also interested.

"Mikael needs to be playing in the Champions League or in the UEFA Cup on a regular basis and he can't do that at Birmingham.

"He has performed miracles for Borussia Monchengladbach and Birmingham so we have a lot of options."

In case you’re the only person not to have heard, Sir Bobby is also reported to be keen to sign Barcelona’s Patrick Kluivert and Leeds United’s Alan Smith.
