Why Shay WON'T Join Arsenal

Shay has always said he is happy with life at Newcastle, and Arsenal interest has been knocked back before by Sir Bobby Robson, Graeme Souness and current boss Glenn Roeder.

Wenger admitted last week he does not know whether current No 1 Jens Lehmann will be at the Emirates next season as the German is out of contract and appears to be keen on the security of a longer deal than the 12-month one Arsenal are willing to offer him. And it is the Arsenal policy of only offering players over 30 a one year contract that will kill off any idea of United's No 1 moving to London. He knows he has a future in Newcastle's first team for the rest of his career.

Wenger knows the situation, and has changed his sights to Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson, according to the News Of The World.
Wenger has been impressed with his efforts for Charlton this season, where the England Under-21 custodian is on loan. Number two to Jose Reina BUT would Rafael Benitez sell a player to a side challenging him for the Premiership? I very much doubt it.
Wenger's scouts are also reported to have checked on Celtic's Artur Boruc and Craig Gordon of Hearts.
