West Ham Outbid Toon For Downing!

Stewart Downing could be on his way out of Liverpool FC as West Ham look to wrap up a £6m deal.

The Hammers' initial approach was rejected last month but they have renewed their interest after learning the Reds are now willing to sell.

NU-Mad understands Downing who cost £20m from Aston Villa two years ago, would accept the chance to move to Upton Park if the clubs reach an agreement.

Downing, who is one of Liverpool's highest earners on around £80,000 per week, is in Brendan Rodgers' squad for today's final friendly against Celtic in Dublin.

It shows West Ham's committment to success and - on the other hand - Mike Ashley's lack of ambition.

Carroll was desperate to return to Newcastle, and Pardew would welcome him back with open arms, but Ashley told the Toon boss to forget any idea of a deal.

As for Downing, a bid was made last week, but not enough to impress Liverpool.

Will Joe Kinnear put in a late offer?

Don't hold your breath.

WE TELL IT AS IT IS - NO BULLSHIT!
