Welcome Return For Schar

Newcastle United finally return to action against Aston Villa on Monday after a long wait since the Bournemouth win.

The Magpies will have to wait over the weekend as they’re the Monday night football match on Sky Sports, but the players have been working hard in preparation for the trip to the West Midlands.

With Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark missing, United eyes were trained on the return of two defenders from injury – as well as two forwards who they’ll be hoping add some firepower to their attack.

Fabian Schar is back.

Newcastle United’s crop of centre-backs might just be their best ever in terms of talent but they haven’t had much collective luck.

Jamaal Lascelles’ serious injury means he faces weeks out while Ciaran Clark has returned from international break with a knock which makes him a 50/50 shout for Villa. So the sight of Fabian Schar back in full training is one for sore eyes.

It’s easy to forget given the performances against West Ham and Bournemouth that Schar was in outstanding form before he was injured and the smart money is on him to come back in for Lascelles.
