Ryan Taylor: “It’s been hard getting into the team but the lads have been going on unbeaten runs, they’ve been at the top of the league.

“I’ve been knocking on the manager’s door all season to tell him I want to play but we’ve been doing so well, you can’t exactly say ‘I deserve my chance’ because the lads have been playing well.

“I think he (the manager) knows I want to play. I must have knocked on his door four or five times this season.

"When I’ve got my chance I think I’ve done well but you know the pressure is on when you get that chance because you’ve got to do really well to try and make your point.

“It’s a bigger challenge next year in the Premier League but that is obviously where I want to play, it’s the league I came to Newcastle from.

“I think I will get more of a chance to play next season.

"It’s a bigger challenge and being realistic we’re not going to win 90% of our games like we did this season so that might give me a chance if someone gets injured or the manager needs to change it round.

“It’s up to me to keep working hard, show the right attitude and make the most of my chance when I get it.”
