Toon Have Had Four Of Top Eight Strikers In Premiership History!

Michael Owen is in eighth place with 126 goals, all but nine of them for Liverpool. And he claims Alan Shearer's tally of 260 will never be broken.

Amazing when you consider Shearer was scoring goals long before the Premiership was formed, and that total could be a lot higher.

Andy Cole - who is second to Shearer with 187 goals - is still with a Premier League club, but he has yet to start a game for Sunderland.

And United have no fewer than four men who have worn the black-and-white shirt - Shearer, Cole, Les Ferdinand and Owen in the top eight.

Owen: "I would like to break Al's record. I am not saying I wouldn't. Obviously Alan's Alan. He scored a phenomenal amount of Premiership goals.

"You're always after a lot of records, but that might be stretching it a bit too much.

"Newcastle's been blessed over the years with some top players, especially going forward.

"If you look at the highest scorers in the Premier League, most of them have played at Newcastle. Not just played here, but scored more of their goals here, as well.

"There's been Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand and obviously Alan, and this is something the club can be proud of."
