The Magpies have already made two bids for Thauvin this summer but his club Marseille has rejected both of them and had refused to sell.
But the Daily Mirror says Newcastle have finally reached a break through and a £12m transfer is set to happen.
Newcastle have been boosted by Thauvin’s desire to move to St James’ Park and they’re now hopeful this deal will be wrapped up within days.
Thauvin’s arrival will take Newcastle’s spending past £50m this summer.
