Allegedly Keegan is "set to offer around £7m to lure the Australian to the club when the next transfer window opens in June".

McDonald has scored 25 goals for the Scottish club in all competitions, putting him in contention for the European Golden Boot award.

But he is probably best remembered for scoring a late goal AGAINST Celtic on the last day of the season (when he played for Motherwell) to gift the title to Rangers. Then Celtic signed him!

Michael Thomas did the same for Arsenal, scoring in injury time at Anfield to rob Liverpool of the championship ... then signed for the Reds.

According to the Daily Mail, the 24-year-old has moved to the top of Keegan's hit list as the side continues to struggle for goals.

More newspaper talk of course, and it will be probably be news to Keegan.
