Some of the players on that pitch could not give a "flying f***", and I'd put substitute Florian Thauvin top of that list.
On the field for 70 minutes ... he probably worked for ten ... then went hiding ... backing away from tackles time and time again.
Alan Shearer did not hold back with his assessment of Newcastle United after their 3-0 loss at home to Leicester City .
The Magpies legend, speaking on Match of the Day, questioned the passion of the Newcastle side as they put in a meek display against the Foxes.
United remain fourth bottom of the table but with tough games away to Crystal Palace then at home to Liverpool next up, they have it all to do if they want to avoid being in the bottom three going into the festive period.
Shearer said on Match of the Day on Saturday night: “There was one five letter word that was trending in Newcastle about the performance.
“I can’t use it here for obvious reasons.
“Words that I can use, woeful, embarrassing, inept, there was just a lack of effort, passion and commitment.”
And Shearer insisted it was not about the result, it was the manner of the defeat and how the Magpies went about their business after another capitulation.
He said: “You can put in a poor performance but you can’t accept a lack of effort like Newcastle.
“I watched them come out in the second half and they were walking around.
“There was just no commitment and it’s not acceptable.”
