Glenn Roeder: "I have learned an awful lot through this first full season in charge of Newcastle, and I have got to make sure the experience I have had, I put to good use over the rest of this season and next season.
"Now I know I am the manager, I can prepare for next season already. We have got a framework for what our pre-season will be - we already know we are back on July 5 and we know the opposition we want to be playing.
"We have got a list of transfer targets we want to attack seriously as soon as the season ends.
"Things, as far as I am concerned, are starting to look a lot rosier in the garden, and not before time.
"Lots of things that have happened this year have been out of my hands, and no manager could legislate for them.
"You cannot legislate for the amount of injuries we have picked up in battle."
