Alan Pardew's men have now won only one of their last six league fixtures, and although they have lost just two, they have slipped off the pace as they attempt to repeat last season's top-five finish.

Steven Taylor: "We have to take positives out of Sunday's game, move on to next week and put in a good performance for ourselves and the fans.

"The main thing is that we get the three points that we want.

"But Swansea are a very, very good team, so we are going to have to be patient.

"It was nice for Kevin Nolan to come back. We are disappointed he got the goal, but we have just got to get on with it.

"He's a very good player and he's a goalscoring midfielder. I don't know how he hasn't had his chance for England.

"If you don't score at home, then you're asking for trouble. We threatened the goal and we had eight or nine shots, but without really any purpose or quality.

"We had one good effort from Yohan which they blocked away, but I am disappointed.

"We have got to win at home and create a good feeling with your fans, and we didn't do that, we did the opposite."
