Graeme Souness has today confirmed his interest in Jean Alain Boumsong. Souness knows that there is a lot of pressure upon him to use his transfer funds wisely. Speaking ahead of our Uefa Cup tie against Sporting Lisbon he commented, ‘I can confirm we have been in touch with Rangers and he is one of the players we want. But at the end of the day he is a Rangers player and is under contract there. We know where we need to strengthen and we know the ones we would like. I would like to reassure our supporters that we are pursuing the players we need’.
It is almost impossible to ‘reassure’
A lot hinges on Graeme Souness’ signings over the next eight months or so having failed to impress thus far with regards to tactical acumen.
