Should Pardew achieve a top-six place spot for the club, it would be the best finish since 2006.

Nobby Solano: “Anybody can make negative comments when a manager arrives. But now he should be given praise.

“The results this season give him a lot of credit and that’s what does the talking.

“When he first arrived people questioned him because they thought he hadn’t achieved anything like this with Charlton or West Ham in the Premier League.

“Yet Alan has proved people wrong.

“He’s doing very well.

“He’s given a lot of confidence to the lads and especially the younger ones.

“They believe in what he wants to achieve. He’s an honest manager who plays in the honest way.

“That’s why Newcastle have gained such good results.”
