Alan Shearer: "I said all along I thought it would go to the last day and that's the case. It is not over yet.

"We will come in on Monday morning, try to lift everyone and see where we go from there, but I still think there will be a twist or a turn yet, without a doubt.

"Stakes are massive, stakes are high, but I still believe there is a twist and a turn. It will be a long afternoon next Sunday. Everyone else is in the same position, so we have to do better than Hull, that's it."

"Whenever that has happened in the past Sir Alex has always been very fair to the rest of the league and put out a very good side.

"And let's not forget we are talking about Manchester United here, they have
a bigger and better squad than anyone so I am sure there will be a few squad players in.

"But whoever is picked I am sure will do their football club justice.

"I said after Monday there was no point beating Middlesbrough and then losing here today and that is massively disappointing. We didn't start at the tempo we finished the Middlesbrough game with for whatever reason and when that happens it is difficult to pick it up.

"We did pick it up second half and gave it a right good go. We gambled with three at the back and, but for two very good saves and a poor decision, we might have got something.

"I think when the referee looks at it again he will realise he got a big decision wrong, but there is no point looking for an apology from him, that's not going to get us anywhere."
