Shearer Returns - Are You Watching Ashley?

OK, it's not the Toon playing on Sunday, but ITV4 will cover the England Crocks v Germany Pensioners live from St James' Park.

Alan Shearer will return to the stadium where he is God - and the place where Ashley is the son of Satan. No ... even worse ... son of a Mackem!!!

But Shearer will be there to honour former boss Sir Bobby Robson - not for any duty on behalf of Newcastle United FC.

Shearer told the Evening Chronicle: "Sunday will be a great day and I'm looking forward to being part of it.

"It will be very special to play at St James' Park again.

"Bobby really deserves this match after everything he's done. I feel I owe him a personal debt.

"When he came in as Newcastle manager, he got me enjoying football again and playing the way I can.

"He helped me when I needed it and I'm very happy to help him now.

"I think the charity is his greatest legacy. He's going through a tough time but he doesn't want people to feel sorry for him.

"He's getting out there and wants to leave a legacy which people can use."

Shearer, of course, is guaranteed a hero's welcome. I wonder how they would react if Mike Ashley suddenly made an appearance.
