300 up
"It's a marvellous, historic moment," Sir Bobby told the Sunday Sun.

"He's made a great contribution and it's a phenomenal record but he's got more goals in his locker.

"It's a colossal achievement, all the more so because he missed a whole year with an ankle injury.

"Shearer also missed a long time with his cruciate injury and at least six months with tendinitis.

"His is a record which will take some catching," he concluded.

Souness was just as generous with his praise for the former Blackburn hero.

"In my time in football, he's the best centre-forward the English game has ever had.

"Our fans should remember what he did for this club - where else could he have got that 300th goal but here?

"He's a very special player," concluded the normally miserable Rovers boss.

I’m sure Alan’s not too concerned about my opinion, but I consider him to be the best goalscorer and amongst the best players I’ve seen in my time watching football.

He is still the complete centre-forward and is arguably in the best form of his Newcastle career.

I reckon he’s got another 100 or so goals in him and a couple against Juventus would be a nice start!
