Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has hit out at Islam Slimani's 'stupid' decision to kick Craig Dawson.
Although referee David Coote missed the incident, the Algeria international was captured by TV Cameras when he kicked the defender in Saturday’s English Premier League encounter loss to West Bromwich Albion.
If found guilty, Slimani will be banned for three games which will rule him out for the remaining part of the season, thus, capping off his frustrating loan spell at the St. James' Park outfit on a low.
“He will get a three-match ban, I have no doubt about it,” Shearer was quoted as saying by Shields Gazette.
“It’s stupid. You’ve hardly even played for Newcastle and that’s probably the last time he will play for Newcastle. It’s just daft, stupid."
Reacting to the incident, manager Rafael Benitez said: “Someone told me, but during the game.”
“I couldn’t see anything, so we will see. At the moment, I’m really upset with the result, and we will analyse the other things later.”
The Leicester City loanee has only managed four appearances for the Magpies since he joined in January owing to a muscle problem.
