Roeder Should Enter The "Real" World

Roeder: "It isn't really any of my business, but what I find interesting is that in all the takeovers, all the clubs have been sold to foreign investors," Roeder said ahead of Liverpool's visit to St James' Park today.

"If you're born and bred in this country, and you're patriotic, you'd like your football clubs to stay in British hands. But we live in an open market, a free market, and if you want to buy, you can do what you want with your money.

"I'm just surprised that when clubs are sold now British investors don't seem to want to be involved. Obviously, Premiership clubs are that expensive that British investors seem to stay away.

"Freddy Shepherd is a very much a local chairman and a fan of the club. At the moment, he's out there on his own a little bit, with the exception, I suppose, of one or two others."

As Newcastle fans we live in a world where our dear chairman wants a Geordie manager; Geordie team; and stotties as a half-time treat for the players. And it is that mentality that probably links us with the unwanted record of not having won a domestic trophy in 52 years!

For the record, NO Geordie manager has ever won the title (Bob Paisley was a Mackem), and only ONE Geordie has ever won the FA Cup. So let's rid ourselves of this local or patriotic junk. We are in the 21st century not the Middle Ages.

Roeder wants to remember, in the world of Freddy Shepherd (who wants a Geordie manager), he wouldn't have the job anyway ... because he's a Cockney. So let's think about what is best for Newcastle United ... rather than where someone is born.
