Agent Stefano Guercini has now confirmed that he plans talks with Freddy Shepherd.
Guercini: "Newcastle are one of the clubs interested in Francesco. There are three other clubs along with Newcastle. I hope to talk with them all this weekend.
"We are hopeful something will be done."
Tavano has scored 38 goals in the last two seasons and has been linked with moves to big clubs Inter Milan and Valencia.
