The media once again tried to spoil a good night in Europe for the mighty Magpies by suggesting there was a bust-up when Turkish midfielder Emre ran straight down the tunnel after being replaced by Charles N'Zogbia midway through the second half of the match in Latvia.

The player was obviously injured, but Friday's newspapers are saying Emre took a moody, which Glenn Roeder was quick to knock.

Roeder: "Emre had a slight knock and I was not prepared to take any chances with any of our senior players with the Barclays Premiership season so close.

"The tunnel was near the dugout and he had to get to the dressing room for ice.

"He was just using his experience because if he had come to the dugout first I would have told him to get to the dressing room and get some ice on his injury."
